About

This is the website of Camel Swim Club. Camel Swim Club offers a broad range of competitive swimming experiences for athletes of all ages and abilities,  In addition to our multi-level USA competitive swim team, CAMEL offers  pre-team lessons, private instruction, clinics, a preseason camp for college and highschool athletes, and both a competitive Masters group and an Aquatic Fitness Masters Group.  Camel focuses on creating an environment that molds individuals into champions, in both competition and in life, by focusing on the growth of the whole swimmer and empowering each athlete with self-discipline and self-esteem. The club admits athletes with disabilities and admits members without regard to race, color, religion, ability to pay, national origin or ethnic origin. Camel Swim Club is a non-profit corporation and is a group member of both Connecticut Swimming and USA Swimming. Our primary practice facility is Lott Natatorium at Connecticut College in New London, CT.

This “About” page is intended to assist users navigate the site, enabling them to find information about CAMEL as quickly as possible.

HOME PAGE:

  • Just under the header, there are tabs that link to the 10 pages on the web site.
  • Under the tabs bar is all the latest news about CAMEL. 
  • Other than titles, words in blue font are links to the information referenced.
  • On the top right, there is a link to a Google version of our team calendar. There is also a link where you can subscribe to the calendar (to have it download right into your own Google calendar). A more detailed pdf version of the Team Calendar can be accessed in the document section. 
  • In the middle of the sidebar on the right there are links to CAMEL’s database querey commonly known as “TMO” and to CAMEL team pictures (password protected photos may be viewed using our login password).  There are also links to CT Swim’s “What’s New” and to CT Swim’s database querey commonly known as “FAST”.
  • In the middle of the right column there is a link to past news and announcements. If you haven’t been on the site in a week or two, you may want to click on this link and review recent team announcements.
  • Even lower on the right are links to companies CAMEL partners with for team merchandise, Poloworks, Swimoutlet. and Metro.  These companies and other organziations may also be accessed by clicking the “Links” tab.
  • For interesting news in the sport of swimming, there is a news feed from USA swimming and another from Swim World Magazine in the right sidebar.
  • For our members that use “Facebook”, the swimmers have set up a CAMEL group and the staff has set up a page for CAMMY.  Links to both are provided at the bottom of the right sidebar.  Articles that appear on the homepage automatically appear as a note on CAMMY’s Facebook page.

LOGIN:

  • Though most information is public, because CAMEL publishes team pictures and coaching data on this site, password security has been incorporated.  Login to the website once and then bookmark the homepage. This site uses cookies to keep track of your logins. You should then only have to login periodically after that. If you need any assistance, or do not know the new passwword, feel free to e-mail Coach Ann.

  • An interesting fact submitted by Coach Bill: “Consumption of fresh, warm camel feces has been recommended by Bedouins as a remedy for bacterial dysentery; its efficacy (probably attributable to the antibiotic subtilisin from Bacillus subtilis) was confirmed by German soldiers in Africa during World War II.”
