Weekly Announcements - November 27
November 28, 2007 on 12:44 pmSENIOR TRIP:
- We will be leaving from the back parking lot by the pool at 9:45AM Saturday morning, December 1.
- We will be returning to the same lot at approxmimately 9:45PM Sunday evening, December 2.
- The Chaperone/Drivers are Coach Ann, Coach Beth, Don Nelson (Lead Chaperone), Midge Thomas, Matt Whittico and Pauline Zimmer. Sharon Adams is our backup Chaperone.
- The hotel is the same as last year, Holiday Inn Mt. Kisco (Westchester County, New York) 1 Holiday Inn Drive, Mount Kisco, NY 10549. 2 1/4 hour drive.
- All meals, transportation and lodging are included in the $165. Swimmers may bring extra spending money becuase there is shopping available in the complex and swim eqipment is typically sold at the meet.
- Swimmers participating on the senior trip should have already deposited $165 in their escrow.
LAP-A-THON:
- Thank you to Coach Beth Lawton and to Dianna McNeish for organizing the Lap-a-thon! Congratulations to all who particpated. Thank you to our parents for the food for the sandwich social and for the prizes. Everyone left with a magazine and a toy, Kokomoor won the grand prize and a dozen other lucky swimmers won additional raffle prizes. In addition to the USA team, CAMEL Coaches, Masters and Pre-team swimmers also joined in on the fun. The highlight of the evening was Kelly Mcgrath’s smile when she finished her 13th length! (Kelly is CAMEL’s newest member and it was only her second night swimming).
- Pledge sheets may be submitted to Coach Ann on deck this week or they may be mailed to Dianna McNeish at 93 Stonewall road, Salem, CT 06420.
- Swimmers who missed the event due to illness or previous commitments are encouraged to participate by having the coaches count your lengths at your next practice or through flat donations.
FROSTBITE FRENZY:
- If your family hasn’t signed up for a volunteer assignment, please contact Aaron Burstein ASAP.
- We have full, but managable sessions, with entries from Charter Oak Swim Club, Cheshire Seadog Swim Club, Glastonbury Swimming, Mighty Ducks, Naugatuck Thunderfish, Souteastern Connecticut YMCA, University Aquatic Club, Valley Shore YMCA, and of course CAMEL.
- Thank you to Coach Marc Benvenuti and the Connececticut College Swim Teams for their assistance with timing.
- Preliminary Psych Sheets, Warm-up Lane Assignments, and Team Work Assignments will be e-mailed to guest clubs on Thursday.
MEETS:
- Except for WYW, which has not released meet information at this time, entries for the remainder of the regular season meets are posted. Please check them carefully. Swimmers may change their meet commitment and/or change their events through the end of this week (and for some meets until January 4). The coaches strongly encourage swimmers to review their events and request any changes that will assist the swimmer towards acheiving their personal long and short term goals.
- Swimmers are reminded to e-mail Coach Ann mailto:coachann@camelswim.org) if you are scratching a meet. If illness or emergency causes a last minute scratch, in ddition to the e-mail, please also leave a message at 860-306-7910.
CAMEL’s Annual Lapathon & Sandwich Social are scheduled for Tuesday, November 27
November 20, 2007 on 4:33 pmAll CAMEL Pre-team, Masters and USA swimmers are strongly encouraged to participate in CAMEL’s annual Lapathon fundraiser. Pledge sheets are available at the pool and on the “Documents” page. The fundraiser will be followed by a sandwich social in the spectator balcony. Contact Coach Beth if you would like to help out the day of the event or if you are willing to donate papergoods, sandwiches, snacks, beverages, water bottles, orange slices, or prizes. November 12, 2007 on 11:24 amTo encourage as many CAMEL families as possible to train to use the Daktronics Scoring system and the Hy-Tek Meet Mangager software, CAMEL President Aaron Burstein has announced the following Daktronics and Hy-Tek Meet Manager systems/program training dates. RSVP strongly preferred:
- Tuesday, November 13 from 6:30-8pm
- Tuesday, November 20 from 6:30-8pm
- Monday, November 26 from 6:30-8pm
- Thursday, November 29 from 6:30-8pm
The Frostbite Frenzy Chairmen’s Meeting to discuss progress of planning and status updates will be held at the pool:
- November 15 6:30-7:45PM
If your family has not signed up to volunteer for two sessions (three if you have more than one child), please contact Aaron Burstein ASAP.
Entries are beginning to come in. Teams entered to date include: CAMEL, OAK, VSYM, GLAS, MD, NTSC, CDOG and SECUN. Entries should be e-mailed to Coach Ann.

Important updates for this weekend
November 5, 2007 on 4:10 pm- Friday LEHY 1650: As with all distance meets, swimmers are reminded they are expected to stay unitl the last CAMEL swimmer completes their swim to assist with the counting timing.
- Saturday HNHS 8/U Meet: The meet host has canceled this meet. Swimmer’s escrows will be credited with refunds.
- Sunday HMST AG Qualifier: The meet host has combined the afternoon session with the morning session. All swimmers will now be expected on deck at 7:50AM. CAMEL has been assigned one timer. Please see the “Meets” page (excerpted below) for further details.
