CAMEL announces 2007-2008 staff, calendar and practice schedules

CAMEL has announced the preliminary 07-08 Practice Schedule (including staffing) and has published the preliminary 07-08 Detailed Team Calendar.   CAMEL’s short course schedule includes a Pre-team lesson program on Tuesdays and Thursdays running mid-October through mid-March.  Head Coach Ann Hughes and Coach Ally Sega have both returned for CAMEL’s 07-08 short course season.  New to CAMEL are assistant coaches Will Wakefield, Jim Dolan, Alex Wood, Beth Lawton and Anne Farley.  Coach Wakefield is currently the assistant coach of Connecticut College’s swim teams.  He has an extensive swimming background including having been a Head Coach of an Age Group team.  Coach Wakefield will be coaching the older juniors (Bactrians and Alpacas).  Coach Dolan has a broad range of experience in aquatics.  A successful swimmer himself, he currently teaches at Bubbles to Butterfly swim school and has coached older swimmers as well.  Coach Dolan will spend half his time with the older juniors and half with the Seniors.  Coach Lawton brings considerable coaching and aquatic background to CAMEL.  She will be working with the youngest swimmers (Dromedaries). Coach Farley coached CAMEL’s Pre-Masters Group last season and has taught lessons and coached competitive swimming in Connecticut for many years.  She will be coaching CAMEL’s Pre-team lesson group.  Coach Wood’s enthusiasm for coaching and for swimming is contagious.  He is Connecticut College’s Team Captain.  Coach Wood will be working with both the older and the younger juniors.  Registration and an informative parent meeting are being held on Wednesday, September 4 and practices begin Thursday, September 5.

The CAMEL office will be closed noon Monday, August 20 through noon Sunday, September 2.  The website will be updated and e-mail will be reviewed and answered daily beginning Sunday, September 2.   In the interim, CAMEL may be contacted via phone: 860-306-7910.  

CAMEL Announces Preliminary 07-08 Meet Schedule, Registration Ongoing

CAMEL has announced the preliminary Meet Schedule for the upcoming 07-08 short course season.  Suggested meet lists for each squad have been developed by the coaching staff to assist members’ season planning.  CAMEL’s meet schedule has even more meets than past short course seasons including additional 8/U and 10/U meets and more distance and travel opportunities.  CAMEL will be hosting the Frostbite Frenzy meet Saturday, December 8 & Sunday, December 9 at Connecticut College.  For the third year, CAMEL has been selected to host Regional Championships Friday, February 29 through Sunday, March 2.  CAMEL’s preliminary 07-08 Season Plan has also been announced.  Daily updates are accessible by clicking on the words “What’s New” at the top of this home page or by clicking on “CAML What’s New” in the “links” section on the left of each page. 

Registration is ongoing for CAMEL’s 2007-2008 Short Course Season.    August 15th is the last day to take advantage of “Early Bird” registration.  Regular registrations will be accepted via snail-mail through September 1st and there will be an in-person registration at Connecticut College Tuesday September 5.  Prospective members are encouraged to contact Coach Ann for more information.   All swimmers are encouraged to register early!
