CAMEL Coaching Staff Growing
April 28, 2007 on 6:32 pmThe entire short course staff, Coach Ann, Coach Bill, Coach Margee and Coach Molly have all returned for long course and CAMEL is pleased to announce that three additional coaches, Allyson Sega, Cynthia Mascolo and Tina Hughes, two assistants, Kelseas Fortner and Anne Weeks, and one intern, Katelyn Brucho, have joined the 2007 CAMEL Coaching Staff bringing CAMEL’s staff to 12. Allyson Sega brings over 13 years coaching experience to CAMEL. Coach Ally has coached both Age Group and Masters swimmers, most recently for the Meridan Seals and Glastonbury Swimming. Cynthia Mascolo has significant experience teaching competitive swimmers and has been the Head Coach for Pinebrook Swim Club. Coach Cindy and Coach Ally both were CT USA swimmers, are USA and ASCA certified coaches, and both are also certified CT teachers. Coach Ally and Coach Cindy will work predominantly weekends, including meets. Tina Hughes has competed internationally; currently competes for Columbia University and, as of February, for CAMEL. Coach Tina was a developmental specialist for Glastonbury Park & Rec and also coached Glastonbury Swimming’s 12 and under USA squad. Coach Tina will be coaching mostly weekday mornings and will head our Pre-team lesson staff. Two other college athletes, both long time CAMEL swimmers, Kelsea Fortner from Marist and Anne Weeks from St. Joe’s, will be coaching predominantly in the evenings and will both be part of CAMEL’s Pre-team Lesson staff. Katelyn Brucho, a swimmer and coaching intern from Connecticut College, has been working with our developmental swimmers. The addition of these coaches to the staff has enabled CAMEL to broaden the scope of its programming to now include college athletes at one end of the spectrum and young novice swimmers at the other end of the broadened team spectrum. CAMEL has been able to expand its Master’s offerings to include a fitness component and has added a Pre-Team Lesson Program. The additional staff will continue to improve CAMEL’s already excellent swimmer to coach ratio. CAMEL is now able to offer two distinct summer morning practices (beginning May 14) allowing the Juniors and Seniors each use of the full pool and the full attention of the coaching staff. CAMEL anticipates that many practices will now have significant one on one instruction. Coach Dan Mascolo is also returning for CAMEL’s High School & College Pre-Season Camp in August.

The course will be offered Wednesday, May 23 from 9AM to 3:30PM at Connecticut College’s Harris Rectory in Room 1973. A light breakfast and lunch are included with the class in the $14 per person fee. Please contact Coach Ann for further information.
