November 29, 2006 on 10:53 pmDue to meet adjustments, the arrival time for the senior trip is now 9:45AM. Swimmers will meet up with the chaperones in the back parking lot by the Conn College pool. Parents will be given a packet with all necessary information and departure will be no later than 10:00AM.
Tuition Prorated for Swimmers Joining CAMEL Midseason
November 29, 2006 on 2:16 pmCAMEL welcomes Rachel Kokomoor, Jocelyn Rogers, Kaley Kokomoor and Stephanie Lawton to our team, bringing CAMEL membership to 51.
To accomodate the many requests to join CAMEL midseason, beginning this week, CAMEL has begun prorating shortcourse 2006-2007 fees for swimmers that join midseason. For more details, please go to the “Join Us” page. CAMEL has also extended the family discount to include Masters swimmers. Families with two swimmers receive a 10% discount on the second swimmer’s tuition, 20% off the third swimmer’s tuition, 30% off the fourth, etc. Note, beginning December 11, high school girls may pay the HS Girls Guanaco fee or the prorated Llama fee, whichever is less. Also, there is a $200 discount off longcourse tuition that is paid in full by January 15th.
Meet entries posted
November 28, 2006 on 9:41 amIn addition to the six entries posted last week, the final entry for the WYW AA and the WYW Sr Qual are now also posted on the “Meets” page. Sign-up lists for the January 6 CDOG meet and for the BEAR Feb 2-4 AG Qualifier are posted on the team bulletin board. Please indicate your attendance and choose your events ASAP. Beginning today, and once a week until the championship entries are due, the preliminary relay lists will be posted on the “Meets” page so swimmers have an idea if they will be representing CAMEL on relays in the championship meets. Please remember that all swimmers qualifying for CAMEL’s “A” relays are expected to attend Age Groups March 8 - 11.
Senior Trip
November 27, 2006 on 1:48 pmCAMEL swimmers are to be at the back parking lot by 8:30 AM Saturday morning. Please have a good breadkfast, the we will not be eating lunch until we arrive in Mount Kisco, New York. (Lunch and dinner Saturday & breakfast, lunch and dinner Sunday are included in the meet fee). We will be staying at the Holiday Inn in Mount Kisco (1-914-241-2600) and the meet is at the Girls and Boys Club five minutes away. We will be distributing car and room assignments in the parking lot. If you have not paid the full $162, please get payment to CAMEL Treasurer, Dianna McNeish ASAP. Here is the record of payments to date.
Super Set Sunday - IM Distance Challenge
November 26, 2006 on 10:46 amAlpacas and Bactrians are encouraged to join the senior swimmers for today’s Super Sunday Set: the IM Distance Challenge 3:00 - 5:00 PM. Parnets are encouraged to assist with timing and to beverages and snacks for during and after the cahllenge. (Orange slices and water for during the challenge and juice and finger foods for after).
Bear Pentathlon

The BEAR Pentathlon was a day of fun-filled fast swimming. Trophies were awarded to all of CAMEL’s senior participants and two of CAMEL’s juniors: Seth Adams, Tyler Tremblay, Jay Lockaby, Asia White, Grace Moriarty, Dana Tricarico, Eva Nelson and Brian Hughes. CAMEL acheived 73% lifetime personal best times, far exceeding anticipated results at this time in the season. Four CAMELS acheived 100% lifetime best times: Seth Adams, Jesse Gardner, Grace Moriarty and Asia White. Congratulations to Jesse Gardner who was recognized as Junior “Swimmer of the Meet” and to Eva Nelson who was recognized as Senior “Swimmer of the Meet”. Jay Lockaby’s 100 Yard Breaststroke was recognized as the “Outstanding Swim of the Meet”. All Jay’s effort in practice, especially his consistent effort “working his walls”, paid off with an 11 second drop in time. Congrats Jesse, Eva and Jay! Congratualtions also go to Asia White for setting a new CAMEL Team Record in the 9/10 Girls 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 31.29.

Entries will be posted Friday for the January 26 - 28 WYW AA and the January 27 & 28 WYW Senior Qualifier.
When the meet files are available for the February 2 - 4 BEAR AG Qualifier and the February 16 & 17 WAC Invitational on ctswim.org, sign-ups will be hung on the team bulletin board for three days and then a final entry will be posted on the “Meets” page.
All Championship meet entries will be processed on February 11. Swimmers with 6 or less Age Group time standards are expected to participate in Regional Championships. All swimmers who have acheived one or more Age Group time standards and any swimmers qualifying for CAMEL relays are expected to attend Age Group Championships March 8 - 11. CAMEL relays (and alternates) will also be posted February 11. Please notify Coach Ann ASAP if there is any reason a swimmer will not be able to meet those expectations.
CAMEL Continues to Grow

The Dromedaries, CAMEL’s new Developmental program, has added new faces at meets including Kara and Ana K, pictured to the right. The addition of CAMEL’s Masters program brought six athletes to the program. Four new young swimmers, Matt Bean, David Burstein, Karly McNeish and Sarah Burstein, and three new high school girls, Rachael Kokomoor, Kylie Martinod and Kaley Kokomoor, brought CAMEL to 49 members. To accomodate this growth, Coach Ann, Coach Bill and Coach Margee welcomed Coach Molly, developmental specialist, and Coach Mike, Masters specialist, to the CAMEL coaching staff. With four more swimmers trying out this week and requests for team information flowing in daily, CAMEL has sailed well past its membership goals. Plans are underway for interesting additions to our summer programs that should keep CAMEL growing for years to come.
BEAR Pentathlon afternoon warm-up moved up to 1:00PM
November 18, 2006 on 5:54 pmSwimmers and parents are reminded to check the “Meets” page for updates & changes often the week before a meet, especially the day before. The BEAR Pentathlon’s afternoon warm-up has been changed to 1:00PM. Swimmers should be suited up and on deck by 12:50PM. Please remember swimmers should have a chair, and should pack a snack and things to do for the session. They also should pack an extra suit, cap and goggle in case of emergency.

Opportunity to sign-up and select events for upcoming meets
November 13, 2006 on 3:34 pmBeginning tonight, Monday, November 13, sign-ups will be posted on the member bulletin board for the CAMEL hosted Frostbite Frenzy Meet December 9 & 10 and for five January meets: CDOG, BRS, FINS, HMST, & OAK. Families may use these sign-ups to override the information on their meet commitment forms and/or to have input into event selection. To indicate swimmers’ attendance, write “yes” or “no” next to the swimmers’ name. To select some or all of the swimmers desired events, circle events to be entered, cross out events not to be entered, and leave blank events you would like the staff to choose among as additional events. If a family does not sign-up on one of these forms, we use the latest meet commitment form on file to process the entry for that family for that meet. Please note that on the sign-ups the swimmers are listed alphabetically with the girls first and the boys listed following a page break. Sign-ups will be posted for only a few nights; the deadlines are fast approaching and absolutely final. Sign-ups are posted for:

Another Successful week for CAMEL
November 12, 2006 on 10:56 pmJay Lockaby was recognized as Senior Swimmer of the Meet and Emma Buckridge as Junior Swimmer of the Meet. In addition to significant success in their events, Jay and Emma both exemplified outstanding teammanship and character throughout the weekend. The outstanding swim of the meet was awarded to the Senior boys 200 Free Relay of Seth Adams, Jay Lockaby, Phil McLaughlin, and Tyler Tremblay. Carolyn Romano was recognized for outstanding improvement. Carolyn acheived personal lifetime bests in all five of her events totaling more than 2 minutes and two seconds with an astounding 57 second drop in her 200 Breaststroke! Seven other CAMEL swimmers acheived 100% lifetime personal bests in their events: Seth Adams, Rhianna Blake, Sabrina Brown, Jessica Charron, Hanna Pelletier, Tyler Tremblay and Cat Ward. In addition to numerous CAMEL 06-07 Team Season Best Times, three new All -Time CAMEL Records were set at the LEHY meets. Brian Hughes set a record in the 1,000 Free with an 11:35.77 on his way to a personal best time of 19:19.29 in the 1650 at Thursday evening’s competition. On Saturday, both Asia White (1:24.49 100 Fly) and Brian (2:37.78 200 Fly) set new CAMEL records in their butterfly events. Also swimming well and contributing to CAMEL’s successful weekend were: Meghan Brown, Leah Gionet, Caitlin Koshoffer, Grace Moriarty and Eva Nelson. While the rest of the team competed at the two LEHY meets, three CAMELS, Steph Novotny, Adelaide Taylor, and Dana Tricarico, participated in the HS Class L Trials on Saturday. All three qualified to continue on to Class L Finals Tuesday evening. Results of trials and more details about Tuesday’s Finals can be accessed on the CIAC web site.
Meet Schedule and Team Calendar Updated for Second Half of Season
November 9, 2006 on 4:14 pmDue to changes in the Connecticut Swim Schedule, there are a few changes to the CAMEL Meet Schedule. The updated schedule can be accessed on the “Meets” page. The updated Detailed Team Calendar and updated Meet Commitment Form can be accessed on the “Documents” page. Most notable is the addition of a combined practice and a mini-meet with CDOG on Saturday, January 6th. Alpacas, Llamas, and Guancos will practice intermixed with the CDOG swimmers from 8:00 - 10:00 AM. The Dromedary and the Bactrian practices will start slightly later than usual with practice 9:00 -10:00 AM before the meet in the warm-up/warm-down pool. Vicunas will practice in the warm-up/warm-down pool at their ususal time from 8:00 -10:00 AM. Then from 10:00 AM to noon, all swimmers, from both teams, will be intermixed and divided into two teams - the DOMELS and the CAMOGS - and will participate in a dual meet.

Participating teams thus far include: CAML-CT, VSYM-CT, NTSC-CT, OAK-CT, LEHY-CT, MD-NE, PAC-NE, BSSC-NE, RAMS-NE and HAY-NE. Preliminary scratch sheets will be posted Wednesday night and will be updated until the meet is full. Frostbite Frenzy information will reside on the “Meets” page. Officials should contact Bob Hughes at 860-649-5734 or hughes4@cox.net to ensure their team gets credit towards their team’s work assignment. CAMEL athletes may change the coaches choice of events for this meet by circling their preferences on the sign-up sheet posted a the pool beginning Monday 11/13 (except that all Alpacas, Llamas and Guanacos must swim any events they have not swum yet this season as part of their choices).
